Evaluation & International Speech contests to take place March 7th
The spring contest season is quickly approaching and will feature the Evaluation & International Speech contests. Our club contests will be held on March 7th.

Evaluation contest
Contestants will evaluate a test speaker. After the test speaker has spoken, all the contestants will be escorted outside the room where they will have 5 mins to prepare their evaluations. After 5 mins, all notes will be collected and contestants are escorted into the room one by one. The speaking order should be determined by a draw before the contest. Contestants will be given their notes before they are about to give their evaluations.

Contestants will be disqualified if they speak for less than 1 min 30 sec or more than 3 min 30 sec. Any member in good standing can compete in this contest.

International Speech contest
Contestants will deliver an original speech on a subject of their choice. They will be disqualified if they speak for less than 4 min 30 sec or more than 7 min 30 sec. All contestants may remain in the room during this contest.

To qualify for this contest, each contestant must have already given at least 6 speeches from the Competent Communicator manual.

Contest winners will represent Burrard in the Area 71 contest.

Please let the contest organizers know if you would like to compete. For those not competing, we need you to help run the contests by taking on various contest roles, such as Contest Chair, Interviewer, Chief Judge, Counters, Timers, etc.
